MY STORY
As a young boy, I became fascinated with math and numbers. I couldn't read until 3rd grade, but math came easy to me. I would lend money to classmates and charge interest, like a small loan shark. I dreamt of working on Wall Street, wearing a suit, and holding a briefcase.
At 24 years old (2014), I got a contract job working for a large bank on Wall Street. A higher-up was fired, and in order to prevent jealousy in the office, they moved me into the corner office as a placeholder. I felt like an absolute boss. I had achieved my childhood dream a little more than a year out of college. A couple traders gave me the nickname "Fast Track Max."
I had accumulated $9,700 of credit card debt and had $31,000 of student loans. I was also in grad school online, accumulating another $41,000 of student loans. I paid off my credit card at $1,600 per month for the next 6 months. Then, I moved to Delaware in 2015 for a job and bought a house that I rented out rooms in. On average, I was paying down my student loans at $2,000 to $2,500 per month.
I moved to Chicago in 2017 and finally became debt free in March, 2018. It took me a little less than 5 years after graduating to pay off $81,700 of debt. With the weight off my shoulders, I immediately bought a flight to Thailand and Vietnam, which I had been dreaming of doing for 4 years.
My next goal is to achieve FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early). I want to help you get there too! Sign-up for monthly coaching with me or read my blog for tips and strategies on how to get out of debt and build wealth.
